Term 3 – August 2025
Dear Families,
What an amazing term it has been at Mirniyan PS! Our classrooms have been buzzing with learning, creativity, and community spirit. Some of the highlights we’ve celebrated together:Art Room Success with the Ken Done Fish Display, NAIDOC Week, Book Week and Science Week.
Our SRC has been busy organising a design competition for the new Buddy Bench. Students worked with their buddies to submit ideas, and the winning design will be announced on Friday 29 August.
Wellbeing Focus – Project Rockit
Grades 3–6 participated in the Project Rockit incursion, learning positive strategies to prevent and respond to bullying. This important program helped students add new tools to their wellbeing toolkit.
Cross Country
Excitement is building for our first-ever school cross-country event on Wednesday 10 September! A huge thank you to Mrs Remnant, our PE teacher, for organising this fantastic event for our students.
Father’s Day Stall
On Tuesday 2 September, our students will enjoy the chance to pick out a gift for their dad or an important male in their life. Thank you to our wonderful office team for making this special event possible.
Enrolments for 2026
Our school continues to grow! We are predicting 314 students for 2026, including 90 new Preps (85 already enrolled). This means we will likely expand to 15 classes.
Term 3 has been full of creativity, learning, and community connection. Thank you to all our staff, students, and families for making it such a wonderful term so far. We look forward to the rest of the term’s learning and more exciting events in Term 4!
We celebrated our very first Book Week on Monday 18 August. Students and families embraced the theme, dressing up as favourite book characters and joining our joyful parade in the gym. Classrooms were full of fun activities celebrating our love of reading.
Congratulations to our Prep students and Mrs Humphrey, who won the ZART Art Display Competition with their colourful Ken Done-inspired 3D fish. Their creativity earned our school a ZART art voucher – what an achievement!
During NAIDOC Week, our whole school explored First Nations culture through rich stories such as Wilam: A Birrarung Story, The Rainbow Serpent and The Cunning Crow. Every student created a Bundjil feather with their buddy, which came together in a stunning display. The week finished with a special whole-school event celebrating culture and community.
